The growth of private equity has been nothing short of meteoric in recent years. The industry now approaches $5 Trillion in assets under management whilst at the same time western stock markets have halved in the number of businesses listed. Investors have been switching their money from stock markets to private capital due to better returns. Private equity is certainly not everyone's cup of tea, but when it comes to transforming businesses there are few business models which can compete.
